You’re here cause you’re facing the common dilemma most of us preggos go through: you want something to eat fast (several times a day) but something that isn’t trash. What to do?

In this post, I’ve rounded up my top go-to healthy pregnancy snacks that won’t bore you, nor be full of nasty ingredients.

Oh, and did I mention they don’t take agesssss to make?

Let’s begin.

1) Healthy banana muffins

Say what? Yes you can have your muffin and eat it.

What’s best is that you probably have some ripe bananas you need to use up anyway – add a few ingredients and you pop in the oven!

What’s great about this recipe is it contains a double protein source with the peanut butter.

Obviously you can substitute that for any nut butter if peanuts aren’t your thing.

Do watch your stash closely though as everyone will want a bite!

2) Sweet potato chips

This recipe by Unbound Wellness is pretty easy to knock up.

All you have to do is slice your sweet potatoes finely, add the seasoning and oil you like and straight to the oven.

Great for a snack when you’re out for a day – they will go nicely in a little paper bag, I think.

3) Avocado and egg bagel

Who says bagels are just for breakfast?

Granted, this one may be a bit sticky for a car ride.

But mid-afternoon hunger pangs? Yes please.

Haylie from Our Balanced Bowl seems to have got the balance just right with this one (see what I did there?!)

Not only that, avocado is full of folate, potassium and vitamin C, making this snack perfect for a vitamin boost too!

4) Hummus toast

Before you shrug your shoulders thinking that could never work – go check out this recipe that shows you how to do it four different ways!

Another protein-packed snack for ya, and tasty too!

My tummy may just be growling again…

No seriously though, hummus is a great superfood for battling pregnancy sickness, I’ve found. Plus it keeps you full for ages! Bonus.

5) Cauliflower fritters

Okay, so the frying might not be the healthiest option – but hey, you could always bake them in the oven! Or just swap for olive oil when you’re cooking.

Best of all, they’re simple to make and just four ingredients, making them a super snack you’ll make now that one day your toddler will adore.

6) Chocolate quinoa crunch bars

This has got to be a new favourite of mine, hands down.

If you thought quinoa was only savoury food, you thought wrong.

Nadia from Nadia’s Healthy Kitchen shows us how to transform quinoa into a lovely sweet treat too.

Go for dark chocolate to make sure it’s not full on sugar overload.

7) Soft Pumpkin Cookies

Ladies, this may just be my favourite recipe thus far. It’s one of those recipes that you’ll bake with your kiddo once she grows up a little.

One of those recipes that your child will show her child and thus forth.

You get the picture, I’m in love.

These Soft Pumpkin Cookies are sure to hit the craving spot.

8) Pizza trail mix

Trail mix is an old time favourite of mine for various reasons, but mainly because you can mix up whatever you want and take it on the go with you.

So when I scoured Pinterest for a recipe to try – this one from Eating Bird Food stood out.

Now normally I’m quite fond of adding dried fruit in there too (given my sickly sweet tooth) but I found myself craving NO sugar after this.

9) Zucchini Pizza Bites

I have to agree with Liz from Iheartvegetables on this one, if I could I’d eat pizza all day long!

Unfortunately that wouldn’t be great for our health now would it?

But what if you could make a vegetable pizza? Awesome.

The Zucchini Pizza Bites are a great starter to serve if you’ve got guests round – and, thank heavens, they’re easy to make!

10) Easy Baked veggie Chips

Last but not least, we all get the craving for chips.

There’s something so apetizable about the crunch sound they make when you dig into them…not to mention the hundreds of flavours you can get these days.

BUT, just like pizza, we can’t go overboard.

We can, however, make veggie chips with olive oil and pop them in the oven!
